Imaging Data Commons
The NCI Cancer Research Data Commons has launched its newest repository, the Imaging Data Commons (IDC). The IDC provides imaging data, metadata, and an open library of tools for high performance computation and analysis. It currently includes radiological imaging data from The Cancer Imaging Archive; future phases will draw in pathology data and collections from other NCI data coordinating centers.
Emotional Support for Young People with Cancer
This new resource from NCI can help young people find support after a cancer diagnosis and during cancer treatment. It includes advice on talking with mental health experts, spotting signs of depression, and finding support groups.
Cancer Disparities
This revised page on cancer disparities addresses disparities seen in population groups defined by race/ethnicity as well as other factors. It also now defines health equity and explains how the interplay between the social determinants of health, environment, behavior, biology, and genetics can affect health.
Evidence-Based Cancer Control Programs Website
NCI’s Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences has relaunched its Research-Tested Intervention Programs (RTIPs) website as the Evidence-Based Cancer Control Programs (EBCCP) website. The EBCCP website is a searchable database of evidence-based cancer control programs and is designed to provide program planners and public health practitioners easy and immediate access to program materials. The team engaged with program planners and public health practitioners for feedback to help enhance the functionality of the website. Visitors to the EBCCP website can stay informed by subscribing to the EBCCP Connection newsletter.
NCI Launches the Cancer Moonshot℠ Biobank
NCI’s Division of Cancer Treatment and Diagnosis (DCTD) has launched the Cancer Moonshot Biobank, a 5-year project to learn more about cancer with the help of participants who donate blood and tissue samples as they receive treatment. The biobank works with patients and their medical providers to donate biospecimens over time and distribute the biospecimens and associated data to qualified researchers.
DCEG Linkage Newsletter: Fall 2020 Issue
The Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics (DCEG) has published the fall 2020 issue of its e-newsletter, Linkage. This issue includes an in-depth profile of the Biostatistics Branch, an update on COVID research in DCEG by Clinical Director Sharon Savage, the division’s latest research highlights, insights into the training experience at DCEG, and staff updates and activities.
Initial Screening Phase Molecular Analysis Results from NCI-MATCH
The molecular results of the initial screening phase of the Molecular Analysis for Therapy Choice (NCI-MATCH) clinical trial are now available on DCTD’s website. The results were originally published in October by the Journal of Clinical Oncology.
New Issue of OCG e-Newsletter
The Office of Cancer Genomics (OCG) has published issue 24 of its e-newsletter. This issue highlights a genomic study of cervical cancers in Ugandan patients; the University of California, San Francisco’s Immunoprofiler Consortium; next-generation cancer models and data available via the Genomic Data Commons; and Cancer Target Discovery and Development Network clinical trials and includes a perspective article by Julyann Pérez-Mayoral, Ph.D., the new program manager of the Human Cancer Models Initiative.
