Mother Teresa said, “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.”It’s a quote that has become Champale Anderson’s life motto.For the past five years, Champale has been on a daily mission to feed the underprivileged children in her community of North St. Louis.Champale, a health care provider and mother of six, noticed the kids in her neighborhood were always hungry after school. Not one to stand by and watch these kids struggle, she came up with an incredible — and incredibly selfless — idea.With her “Champ’s Teardrops” program, Champale has enacted an open-door policy: kids can knock on her door before and after school to retrieve one of the 100-plus lunch bags she prepares.“They get off the bus and they just take off running, ’cause they never know what I have in the bag. I switch it up. Sometimes I give them special treats, for my special babies,” she said.

She pays for these lunches herself, and wants to expand to other areas.“My goal is … to go to different neighborhoods and give out bags,” Anderson said.Her goal is resonating with a lot of people.
