74 and 75-year-old sweethearts Eddie and Patty have proven that love trumps all, even in the darkest of times.

The couple was briefly married for a year back in the 1970s, but five years ago they reconnected after Patty messaged Eddie on his Birthday saying “Happy birthday to my favorite ex-husband.”

He ended up taking her out to dinner, and the two of them fell in love all over again.

Sadly, in October 2021, Eddie was diagnosed with cancer. He also developed an infection and got COVID, which landed him in the ICU.

Due to Eddie being COVID positive, Patty had been unable to visit him in the hospital. They missed each other so much, and one day Ed texted Patty, asking her to see if there was a way for them to get married long distance.

The hospital he was at, MountainView, made the exception and allowed Patty to come into Eddie’s room to marry him.

The two of them were married in a small, but very special ceremony.

Eddie sadly passed away two days after the ceremony, surrounded by his new wife and family. Now this ceremony was even more special to Patty, who will always hold that memory in her heart, along with the amazing memories she shared with her husband.

“Oh My Goodness I can’t stop crying,” one YouTube user commented. “He wanted her as his wife again before he made his transition. I hope that one day he will see her again.”
