Diana Donnarumma, who needed a small and large intestine transplant, wasn’t sure if she’d make it to her wedding day. Not only did she get to walk down the aisle, but she was escorted by the father of the organ donor who made her dream day possible!

Five years ago, Daniel Donnelly sadly lost his daughter, Heather, in a car accident.

Heather happened to be an organ donor, and ended up donating her small and large intestines to Donnarumma in what was a life-saving transplant surgery.

When Donnarumma was able to, she contacted Daniel to thank him for his family’s generosity and for helping to save her life. Upon talking to Donnelly, Donnarumma learned that his daughter had died right before her own wedding.

Because of this sad circumstance, Donnelly never had the opportunity to walk his daughter down the aisle. That’s when Donnarumma thought of something to not only lift his spirits, but to thank him for the gift of life.

Donnarumma asked Donnelly to be part of her wedding and walk her down the aisle, and, of course, he happily agreed.

He walked her halfway down the aisle, where he hugged Donnarumma and her father, who then walked her the rest of the way.

Donnarumma also honored Heather on her wedding day by displaying a framed picture of her.
